Very nice smallie. I have those stick-on rulers in several places on my boat so I can measure my fish in a second or two and get them back in the water right away. I don't really care what they weigh because it will change throughout the year.
After years of measuring Snake River smallies, my rules are:
15-18" = really nice fish. They really fight.
18-20" = great smallie, take a picture
20" + = a really unique river smallmouth. Probably over 10 years old. Take care of it an appreciate the privilege of catching such a fish.
