Must have fished a different section of the lake as I was there Tuesday and the gills were all over the shallows. Some nice crappie too.

I was there this past wed the 16th. Only caught one bluegill (pretty good size) but a lot of large mouth. Fish and game stopped by and said it should be picking up within a week or so. Good luck, Derick

So ya makes me think I gotta get off the marsh and get up to the lakes! If you can stand a tag-along, lemme know when you're going - see if I can take a run too. This weekend might find my way there.

I've fished Johnsons, Lamont, Twin, and Winder the past 3 weeks. Blue gill would not stay off the hooks on all the lakes. Yesterday was Twin and Winder...LMB are playing too!

Thanks for the info. I am headed to Twin Lakes
tomorrow to see if the LMB's & bluegills will play
with me.

How big were the fish at Winder? I really hope that little reservoir can recover.

Gills are definitely active. I took a break from catching bass to get some gills for dinner. They made some mighty fine tacos. I was really impressed with the colors on them too.

Caught a lot of 5-6 inchers and a couple 8's. The biggest LMB 14" and I lost count. I think it will recover if we get the moisture this year.
Rumor has it drought is on the way...

Yeah, it's not looking good. Crispy lawns and temps in the upper 80s in May isn't a good sign. Darn it.

I didn't make it across the border, but I did get out for chasing some panfish. Didn't find much for bass, but was fun playing with footballs.

Sounds like things are hopping pretty good up there, if you know how to fish like the Ma! [Wink]

Looks like you got some nice gills. I hadn't eaten them in about 20 years. They're dang tasty, I'll be eating them more often.

The bass are definitely getting more oriented to the beds now. I prefer right before they bed as they're fatter and they're roaming the shallows looking for food. I'm curious how this cold snap we're going to get will affect them.
