The best way i have found to predict wind speed

This is what i use. If anyone has a better method I would love to see it.

Of course, I can usually figure the wind will blow a half hour after I put my boat in. That's usually the norm for me. [crazy]

Very nice link.

For current conditions over the region I like the current observations from the NOAA site.

From it I can see what direction and how much wind several areas are getting. If you aren't used to reading weather symbols, just remember that the more "feathers" on the end of the flag indicates stronger wind.

If you mouse over a symbol you can get the details for that station.

I wish that the aviation wind prediction site was available for a few more areas. But it is still great for the main region.

I find that some areas get less wind than others with different weather patterns, so it is nice to be able to see what is happening around the area. If the wind is out of the west I can go to some lakes, and others are a real mess with a west wind. Nice to at least have some idea of what is happening over the hill!
