Utah Lake June 5, 2012
#1
I had an eventful morning out at Utah Lake bright and early today. I started out slamming the White Bass on a red rooster tail and then some 3-inch grubs. I attached a few pics showing what exactly I was using. After my arm started getting a little tired, I decided to just throw in a worm under a bobber, and the bullheads were very eager to take the worm today. While I was relaxing watching my bobber, I decided to throw in my other pole which was already rigged up with some plastic I was using for the White Bass. Not expecting much, I was casually reeling in when "thwack". Something hit my bait hard. At first I thought I had hooked in to a carp, but when I got it to shore I realized I had a beautiful bucket mouth on the end of my line. Easily the biggest I've pulled out of Utah Lake this year. Just thought I'd share some pics of the great morning I had out on Utah Lake today!

*And yes, the LMB was released as were all the fish today [Smile]

Nicely done!! Looks like it was well worth the time. If you don't mind me asking, what part of the lake were you fishing? It kinda looks like the state park launch area...maybe???

@TheScout, you are correct my friend! I don't mind telling anyone where I'm catching the fish. I have a blast every time I pull a line in with a fish on the other end, and want everyone to experience the same. This morning I was in and around the state park. I was moving around a lot, but the fish seemed to be everywhere.

Cool, I really appreciate the info. I don't mind sharing a few tips myself but I do love to keep a few "aces" in the hole. Of course, a lot of my "aces" have been tips from other guys so...

You have and "aces" up at Deer Creek you're willing to share with me? I haven't fished up there much but really want to start, and I'm not too familiar with the reservoir

Broskie5, I was pretty close to the opening of the river channel, but still a bit out. I was just jigging the rocky shorelines for the bass, and the mudcats were pretty much everywhere.

In Utah, a second pole permit is required to fish with two poles simultaneously.

Correct. That's why my two-pole license is always in my tackle box

Nice report, nice fish. Sounds like some fun. Fishing is pretty hot some places these days. We're getting into that warmer water weather. What a turn on!

Missed opportunity though tossing all them Whities back, but maybe you didn't have a cooler, or desire to filet. You can donate them to me anytime! Teeehee -
To each his own. Mudcats be damned! Nice bucketmouth - I'll bet that was a fight!
