Well my local tournament that I fish came to chickamauga for the first time this year, since I had been catching some good fish I was feeling pretty confident..... emoBang can anyone on here tell me what the secret to using a frog is? The package it came in said to let them take it for two seconds before setting the hook.....I bet I missed 10-12 fish trying to use that dad gum thing!!!! So finally about 8 o'clock I decided I was tired of missing fish and picked up a texas rig, three casts later I get a good bite set the hook and it was a solid 4 lber. We fish on not being able to pick anything else up, move to the next spot and my buddy calls me and asks me where I'm fishing, I tell him and he tells me there has been a guy already fish it twice and didn't catch nothing....i fished it anyway and pulled to 2 lbers off it, so that just goes to show you it doesn't really matter if something has already been fished it just matters what your presenting to them. Well we knew missing all the fish that morning would hurt us and it did....spent the rest of the day trying to find two more and just couldn't find any keepers......finally we pull into a cove with about 20 minutes left in the tx, There was a guy already in there and we were making small talk and all of a sudden i get a big thump on the end of my line!!! emoBig
I reel down set the hook and it feels like an absolute GIANT!!!! i can feel it shaking its head back and forth and it just feels huge!!! I told my partner to get the net this is one we've been looking for.....then all of sudden it just stops fighting and goes dead weight...... emoScratch so now i don't know what to think.....i slowly keep easing it up and finally it breaks the surface! It was a giant all right.....a giant snapping turtle!!!! Thing must've weighed 20 pounds!!! I was sick.....after that we headed in only had 3 keepers at 8 pounds it took 14 lbs to win but our three was enough for 3rd and a check so its always nice to get a paid to fish even if it isn't much!!!
