I got done with what I needed to do today around noon so I headed out to do a little looking and fishing. It was a lot tougher day then it had been. Some of that could be the bass going deep, some could be I went in the hottest part of the day and some could just be the bite being off with blue bird sky and sun. I started deep and put a 3/6 in the boat on the second cast out of 23 foot. It hit a big worm. Messed around there a little more and had one come off. emoAngry Then caught a 2/8 and missed one more. Moved from there and hit some shallow grass. That was a complete bust. Tried a frog and a spook and got zip. After wasting about an hour doing that I moved to a little deeper water in the 6 to 7 foot range with grass. Boated four on a shakey but only one would keep and it was right at 2 pounds. If the big girls were in the grass and on the edges they did not bite. Hit another hump and fished the edge of it in about 20 foot, caught another keeper at 2/9. Moved to a couple more humps and caught a couple more bass. Made two more moves and hit an area with some pretty good ones. Had three more in the mid to upper twos, lost one good one I never saw that just came off and had the big one of the day at 4/11. emoThumbsup I believe I caught in all sixteen bass and had nine keepers. My best five were 4/11, 3/6, 2/11, 2/9 and 2/8. Not too bad considering the time of day. Best three 10/12 and best five 15/13. emoDance I left at 5:30.

All the better fish came deep, anywhere from 15 to 23 feet. Best baits today were the shakey with a finesse worm, a t-rig with a big worm and a t-rig with a big lizard. I tried some cranks, swims and top water stuff but did not get a smell.

Saw Ben Haze out there today too, he was doing the same thing I was. Trying to get a jump on everyone else. LOL

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. emoBig Be safe and see-ya on the water. emoToast Jmax
