Tried fishing Merrill Pond in Eagle last night and it was pretty slow. Caught two VERY small fish - bass and a trout. Did not seem to be any blue gill around.
What local ponds in the Boise area are producing the best experience at this point in the year? Looking for a nice blue gill population to be honest.....

Duff Lane Pond in Middleton is a good place to take kids as is the Horseshoe Bend Mill Pond just north of Horseshoe Bend.

I don't know anything either.
Your best bet may be to contact the local F&G office. Since many of the ponds are family fishing waters, they keep pretty close tabs on how they are fishing.
Sports stores might have some ideas too.
Lots of ponds in the area. Good luck!

Thanks guys for the responses - glad that I stumbled upon this form - seems like a friendly and active place.
Mill Pond in Horseshoe Bend is about our favorite place - never been skunked there so that is where will be probably head. Although want to give the pond in Middleton a try as well that was mentioned.
Thanks again for the great responses.

Here is the June stocking schedule. It can be found on the Fish and Game site. Just go to the fishing reports, and click on the list at the bottom of the report. They stock valley ponds early on and then pretty much stop during the hot summer months, concentrating on the mountains. Mike

I was at the pond on Eagle and Mcmillan, not fishing, just walked around to see how everyone else was doing. Saw small bass, very small green sunfish, big carp that I hear are for keeping the vegetation down, and small and some large trout that must have been stocked recently.
I also caught a nice sized 9-10" bluegill out of the back ponds at Wilson Springs in Nampa a month ago. Saw a few catfish and bass, but couldn't get them to bite. They would head towards my bait but usually stop and watch it before getting bored and swimming past. Really fun to watch the reactions so you have some idea what goes on when you can't see them.
