Welcome to the boards jrs4X4!!! I'm kinda new around here too. I'm sure you'll find the folks here much more informative & helpful than the "other" boards and sites around. The best things is how friendly everyone is. Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but someone soon will. Once again welcome and I look foreward to sharing posts with you.[Wink]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2]Hey there 4x4 ... and WELCOME,[/size][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2]I suspect that someone else will probably be able to help you better than me but here's my clusmy attempt:[/size][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2]-------------------------------[/size][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]First you must be logged on with your name and password.[/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]Once logged on, go to one of the discussion boards (if you are reading this your are on one) away from the Home page. Near the top of the page, there is an "Edit Profile" link. Click on it.[/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]On the resulting page, click on the "User Profile" link.[/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]In the resulting page, the area you want to concentrate on is the "Signature" text/edit area. To the left of that area is a "Markup allowed" link. Click on that link.[/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]In the resulting page, scroll all the way down to the bottom. There you will find an HTTP example of how to get a graphic imbedded into your sig block.[/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]Basically, what you will have to do is surround a Web address (the Web address of where your graphic picture is located) with the HTML image tags. So, I guess really the first thing you have to do (I should have mentioned this way up at the top of this tutorial) is to know the Web address of the graphic you want displayed. [/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]The example that is shown has the "Powered by Gossamer" http web address preceded by "image" (in brackets) and followed by "/image" (in brackets) with no spaces.[/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]Once you think you've got it the way you want it, save it and apply it by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking on "Make Profile Changes. [/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#0000ff][size 2]If it aint quite what you wanted, you can always edit it later.[/size][/#0000ff][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2]-------------------------------[/size][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2]Just to give you yet another example, I have attached a Word document that shows how my signature edit area produces the wiper fish.[/size][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2]Hope that gets you started. Give it a try. We'll be patient while you experiement. But more importantly, come back often ... especially with your fishing reports and questions. We would love to hear them.[/size][/font]

The most likely culprit is that your graphic is on your computer, but it needs to be on an Internet site for it to work. Once you understand that then Old Coot's post should make sense to you. I think he described how to sign up for a free site here on BFT, and how to transfer your favorite pics from your computer to your new Web site

[left][size 4]Here is the step-by-step procedure on posting your pictures, graphics, or videos on the message boards[/size][/left] [left][size 4][Image: step1.jpg][/size][/left]

[size 3]Step 1 [/size]

Resize your photos to

400 Pixels Wide (Approximately 5.5 Inches Wide)

300 Pixels Long (Approximately 4.2 Inches Long)

Check out your graphic program you have on you computer. Most programs will let you down size your photos. If you don't have a graphic program, then use Microsoft's free program MS Paint. You can find this on any computer with Microsoft Windows. I don't know the programs that are used for Apple Computers. In MS Paint just open your photo then select Image on the menu bar and them find and select Attributes... Here you can change the width and height. Just place 400 in the width and 300 in the height boxes. Your done with your photo.

[size 4]Step 2 [/size]

You need to place your photo on a website server. Big Fish Tackle has a place you can go to and make your own website. This is what I am talking about. When finished you will have an address where the photo can be found.

Example Only [url "http://www.yourwebsite.com/pic1.jpg"]http://www.yourwebsite.com/pic1.jpg[/url] [center][#ff0000][size 1](This is a none working link example only)[/size][/#ff0000][/center] [center][#ff0000][size 1][/size][/#ff0000][/center] [left][size 4]Step 3[/size][/left] [left]Select new post and look at photo below[/left] [left]Select the graphic icon where the red arrow is pointing. [/left] [left][Image: step3.jpg][/left] [left][size 4]Step 4 [/size][/left] [left]A new dialog box will show up so you can place an address where your photo, graphic, or video can be found. [/left] [left][Image: step4.jpg][/left]

If you get this (the broken link is what we call it) you have a problem with the link.

If you were successful and see a photo come up like this then it worked.

[Image: al.jpg] [center][url "http://www.nighthawkcd.com/fishing/al.jpg"]http://www.nighthawkcd.com/fishing/al.jpg[/url][/center] [center][size 5]WOW! That is great[/size][/center] [center][size 5]That is all you have to do.[/size][/center] [center][size 5]I hope you find this helpful. [/size][/center] [center][size 5]Good Luck![/size][/center]

Here is how you can post an attached file like one attached to an email. I have included a step by step way of doing it.

[size 3][Image: step1a.jpg][/size]
[size 1]

[/size][size 3]When you click on the browse button a new dialog box will show up. See Step 2[/size][size 1]

[/size][size 3]Select the photo you want to post to Big Fish Tackle web server. I keep all my photos on My Pictures folder under My Documents. There are several ways you can upload pictures. You could use your CD ROM, ZIP Drive, Floppy Drive, Camera, etc...[/size][size 1]

[/size][size 3]Once your photo has been selected it will be placed in the box on Step 4. Then click on the button that says upload attacment[/size][size 1]

[/size][size 3]When this is done you will notice that the green bar will start to move to the right. Your file is uploading to the site. See Step 5 [/size]

[size 3][Image: step5a.jpg][/size][size 1]

[/size][size 3]When finished it will place it on the lower bar area of the post. See Step 6[/size][size 1]

[/size][size 3]Post you message and you are done![/size][size 1]

[/size][size 3]Notice your post is listed with an attached file. All someone has to do is click on the attached file and Bammm it's there. Good Luck![Smile][Smile][Smile][/size][size 1] [/size]

Here is a step by step procedure to place a signature in your posts automatically.

[size 6]Select Edit Profile[/size] [center][Image: signature1.jpg][/center] [center][size 6]Select User Profile[/size][/center] [center][Image: signature2.jpg][/center] [left]This is where you select you photo that you want to place in your posts each time. You must have a website host to place these pictures. BFT provides one for free. Please don't like to someone elses website without their permission. Fill in the address of the photo[/left] [left]Example: [url "http://www.nighthawk@nighthawkcd.com/fishing/mylogo.jpg"]http://www.nighthawk@nighthawkcd.com/fishing/mylogo.jpg[/url][/left] [center][Image: signature3.jpg][/center]

Good Luck!
