Posted this last year. Hope it helps. We were using light kokanee pop gear. I think we might have done just as well trolling just a wedding ring and worm. I would't go buy lots of equipment for these recent planters!! Have fun. It is a beautiful place to fish. Let us know how you do. Mike
Warm Lake
If you are looking for a good fishing trip for the kids, Warm Lake is a sure-bet for a limit of planter-sized trout, with some holdovers running somewhat larger. Doubles were the order of the day for Kali and I today, trolling on the surface with lightweight pop gear and a wedding ring. It's beautiful up there now. Saw a bank fisherman casting just west of the North Shore Lodge on the point, and he was also connecting. Mike

I have fished Warm Lake for over 60 years. and it has been 30 years since there were any lake trout planted. and 20 years since I heard of one being caught. Payette Lake at McCall would be a better bet.
Sorry to throw cold water on the plan, but thought you should know.

If you search this site for Payette Lake you will find a good discussion in 2006 about where and how to catch them in Payette Lake. Good Luck

If you are looking for a smaller lake I think Stanley Lake also has lake trout. I have yet to try it, but it is on my to do list. Good luck.

It's a little late, but wanted to follow up! Ended up hooking 2 Mack's at Payette lake near the island jigging a lead lure shaped and colored like a fish. Sorry I don't know what they are called. 6 hours Of fishing in high swells cause of other boats for 2 fish was a little slow for me, but knocked it off the list finally. Caught em between 20 and 40 feet!
I'll add pics in a bit!
