Help Targeting Cascade coho
#1
Ok just looking for some info on the coho at Cascade.

What they eat, possible size, depth they hang out at, location, Is there a chance i could get one from the shore. Would they eat perch cut bait. What kind of deodorant should i wear? How big do they get. What is the flavor of these coho is it worth going after for a table fair fish. Thank you all for your help.

It's been 25 years or so since I chased Coho in Cascade but I had some great days. I've never caught one from shore, always trolling. Seems like all we did back then was drag spinners like roostertails and mepps. Usually just trolled a few hundred yards off the golf course. Since that time I learned a trick or two about fishing Coho that may work here also. One that would be interesting to try is the bare hook method. Drag a 8" dodger or flasher followed with a 18" leader and a bare #2 red or black hook. I have caught a lot of Silvers that way in other places. Good luck and tight lines!

Coho will have black spots on there back, Kokanee will have a Blue back. That being said I find it very hard to tell the 2 apart, If you are targeting from shore they both will cluster up minnows in the evening to feed on. Find a cluster of small minnows jumping at dusk toss in a CD5 in silver, or a spoon and fish on! This is the only way I know to catch them from shore and it is a small window.
