Snake South of Boise and a personal first
#1
Fished Sunday on the Snake between Swan Falls Dam and Celebration park w/ some family and a friend. Got a relatively late start, getting on the water around 11. Initially I was a little concerned since we didn't hook up on anything for the first little stretch until we got to some riffles. Once we got to some significant structure with current it was soon game on. We would work behind every boulder, point, submerged rock and shelf. Further down river the fish just became more and more agreable. At one point I pulled a decent catfish out of a small side channel that wasn't more than 15 feet across and the deepest point probably wasn't over 5 feet. Bonked him for later but later lost him as the stringer got caught between the boat and a shallow shelf [frown]. However by that point we were hooking up bass easily in the ratio of 9 for every 10 casts or more [Smile]. I have no idea what the actual final count was but based on the number of soft plastics that were killed, the 4 I caught on a fly and the tension in my arms today we estimate conservatively around 200 fish for the 3 of us. Boated anyway. Overall an amazing day. Just not much size to them (10-14"), except for the cat.
