I may end up on a quick evening fishing trip up to Deer Creek.
My intention is to use the downriggers and try to catch trout trolling (just because that's what I know how to do best).
Would we have more luck targeting something else?

Downriggers are fun but not necessary at deer creek. We've had lots of success with just trolling rapalas by themselves this year up there. Just my experience, good luck and have fun! Oh, don't forget that the water is WAY down up there right now.

Seems like the bass fishing is really starting to taper off at dc. It's still ok, but nothing like it was a month ago. Probably a combination of dropping water and a ton of boat traffic. It's getting pretty congested as it shrinks. There have been some huge wake board boats the last few times I've been there. Be safe out there. They can create some monster swells. I'm talking huge, holy <}%€<< hold on swells.
Can't really comment on the trout.
I'm looking forward to cooler temps and school starting.
