This isn't a fish tale, per se. It's a cautionary tale for anyone who fishes, boats or spends time alongside The Upper salmon River's lush cottonwood riparian areas. Those big, seemingly solid trees can cut loose in a heartbeat. Here's the story of a 79-year-old BLM Volunteer who was crushed by one of those trees on August 5th, 2010, and survived. Not only that, he came back to host the same BLM recreation site after extensive rehab. It harks back to when our Daddies told us, "When Life Knocks you flat, you just gotta git up and keep on a going."

Any time we're on that river in a howling wind, we're definitely gonna be looking at those trees with a different attitude from now on.
Many Cheers, jp
PS--We're back home after 8 days up in Salmon Country. Got a lotta stories to tell. This one was at the top because tomorrow's the guy's birthday--he will be 81!
