Floating Bells
#1
Went up in the heat of the day to Lower Bells Reservoir to try to get a fish on the fly...on the new float tube. Started out on the trail...and after that 5 mile hike to White Pine Lake...it was a short 0.6 stroll to the lake...I only stopped to take one picture.

The lake still was looking great though for how hot this summer has been.

Got to the lake and set up shop (rigged the fly rod, got the tube up and ready for action, ect.......) The swimmers (illegal), rock throwers (should be illegal) and black/white dunns (perfectly legal) were everywhere on the water. The new float tube was ready for round 2.

The temps were hot...but the action was not. There were tons of weeds in the middle...much like Mantua.....minus the dependible bluegill of course. The inlet produced one hook up...which was lost as soon as it was on. Bummer. Having to leave at 3pm.....it turned into more of a relaxing day.

Sure enough while relaxing the phone rang.....and much like the Corrona Beach commercials I was tempted to throw the phone into the lake. It turned out to be my work...an employee did not make it in...and they wanted me to fill his place. I replied, "I am in the middle of a mountain lake on my float tube fishing right now, and tonight I am going to dinner with my mother since it is her birthday today". She said, "that's ok, enjoy your day off". Jodi is way cool, she hunts and fishes too...so she understands.

Never got a fish....fishing the wrong time of day for sure. That is 2 and 0 on the new float tube. Gotta change that soon!

I've seen people get cited for wading in the reservoir. Did the rules change on LB?

Proof to the saying "the worst day fishing is better than the best day working". Sometimes that "ignore" option on the phone is a good thing. But I hear ya - have taken conference calls from the middle of a frozen lake on "days off".

So - no swimming? But they allow floaters?

I would be willing to argue that one. I have had a fed frustrating days on a river when I thought, " I shoulda fine to work, at least then I wouldn't have wasted all the money on gas."

Those days have been rare, but they do exist. At least for me.

It says no swimming. I have personally seen float tubers out there in waders all the time. No body contact is the theme up there and all these water shed places.

You have to be wearing waders or dry suits.

Looks so peaceful....
A bad day fishing is always better than a good day at work.
now on the phone , that thing needs to stay home or at least in the car...
Thanks for sharing
