Yesterday the stars seemed to align for me. On blast off I headed to a hump that has produced for me in the mornings and things started off slow. Was able to pick up my first t three fish in the 2.5-3lb range. Slower than I hoped so I decided to try a spot I had found a good school setting on deep in about 20 foot of water almost 2 weeks ago. When I pulled up I saw a boat fishing close by but far enough off the spot so i whipped around and began fishing it figuring the fish weren't there or they had already wore the spot out. First cast I landed a solid 3 lbr. Next cast another one. Then another. I started chatting with the other boat and they hadn't been able to get a fish off the spot. First time I have ever heard anyone complain about me giving them a lesson in bass fishing. Then when i thought it couldn't get any better I started getting size. By then I had three boats in the area watching me wear them out. Had 2 around 6lbs each 2 at 5lbs and 3.5. I broke off on the hookset on one that was solid and lost my biggest fish which looked liked it weighed around 7 and would have been my biggest fish at the boat because my line snapped while I was grabbing the net. Guess I needed to retie more. At about 945 the bite shut down and i left to let the area rest and to give my bloody thumb a break. Hit 3 other deep spots with no luck so came back around 1230 and nothing else wanted to play so I fished some grass till about and hour before weigh in when i noticed 2 of my fish had died and one of them wasn't looking so hot so I went back and moored up for the last hour babying that fish because you can only weigh2 dead fish. I was a nervous wreck waiting to weigh those fish in. But my luck held out and I weighed in at 25.43lbs with a 1lb penalty putting me at 24.43. Was my best day yet and what a better day to have it than a CBA! Now I know ill never catch a fish the rest of the year because I've caught my quota for the year lol.
