Recycling - Blades

Ok - trash to treasure. Done the Bottle-Cap lures, and having played with the many metal, fluorescent, and hammered blades - realized I could emulate the wing-style blades with some strips of plastic and stickers.
Had a "Wally Pop" lure as a model, and can add some floats, hooks riggings later.

All that plastic wrap you get on products (electronics and such) these days - but they don't have the magic triangle, so no big blue bin.

A bit of trimming, some reflective stickers, and I've got more spinning blades to bead and string . . . maybe some Walleye will like them!

Ha - like that could EVER happen! I don't theeenk so!
I'd have a LOT of learning the ways of PVC and getting the LEAD out.
I set a lot of goals around fishing, but that just ain't one of them. To learn from, and model some of my approaches, or riggings from HIS teachings - you betcha!

Maybe next I'll hit the DI and collect some old spoons. Get 'em hammered! Good as gold!

Yeah yeah - it's the worms that'll be on the hook-harness trailing behind they'll want to smack (or follow gingerly).
Caught a cookie cutter dragging one behind a planer board at Willard.

Thought the combo of bottom bouncers with a floating body would help keep above the snags. Tried some Walleye floats behind some of my other blades. They still sink with bigger blades, but when running - must keep them up some.

Have you ever used those WallyBob or blades? You like running other blades, no? Do you have a shape preference? (Colorado, Indiana, French - I don't know what all there are!)

I may put some in front of bass (or musky) today and see what they think. [cool] The CapSpinners do seem to have an effect on 'em!

[cool][#0000ff]Nice work, Bro. As you may suspect, I have used pieces from "beverage" containers to create blades and flash goodies for quite a few years. Cheap, easy to cut and shape and plentiful supply. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One of my first uses of bright aluminum can blades was in some homemade "inline" buzzbaits. Had a lot of fun with my "Coors Buzzers".[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Simple to cut the blades in a big propeller shape and then bend them to get the right spin. The only problem was that they were so flimsy they got dinged out of shape whenever they encountered structure...or fish. The latter problem is a good problem.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One word of advice is to not rig them directly on a piece of mono leader. They cut through anything besides wire pretty quickly. Also, be sure to use a small "bearing" bead so that the blade spins freely.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have never tried some of the "creative" shaped blades newly popular with the walleye wonks. But I can attest to the fact that sometimes a unique flash or vibration can help call in the fish...or scare them away. Worth trying.[/#0000ff]
