Deer Creek 10/26 Report
#1
Launched at Island park, early Sunday. Water is still dropping. Down about a foot since last weekend. Took my boat this time(needed the G.P.S. to keep track of location in deep water). Way huge big pain in the butt launching. Finally got the boat pushed off and headed to the dam. Water temp was 51 at launch and got up to about 53 in the afternoon. Water temp at 53' deep was 49 to 50.
Caught three small Walleye in 68 to 73' of water, just out from the steep bank below the road. Right along the bouy line. Caught those three on jigs and crawlers.
Caught another small eye on the other side of the lake in 35', jig and crawler again. Went back across and a ways east and anchored a couple times. Caught one more eye in 51'.
Got windy and we drifted spinners and crawlers deep behind 4 oz. bouncers. Brad drug a walleye halfway around the lake and didn't even know where he caught it. Just pulled up and had it on. It was somewhere along the east side between rainbow bay and wallsburg bay.
Decided to get out early in case we needed to call a tow truck to pull the truck out. Right when I started to reel in, Brad hooked a big fish with a 1/4 oz. Fuzz e Grub. Probably a Walleye, lost it.
Ran the winch out and let the strap dangle over the last roller on the trailer, so I could grab it and hook up without even being on the trailer. Worked quite goodly. Got the boat back on and pulled out without any trouble.

Took home five tasty little eyes between 14 and 16".

Not a bad day, but not sure if we will play that game again before the water comes up.

Bob I know what you mean. I can't wait until they take some of that water from Joradnelle and fill Deer Creek. I am concerned about the stress on the fish with these low water conditions.

Good day fishing. What color were the grubs?

Nice report Bob, too bad Brad lost that big eye but the report sounds a lot better than the last time you were up there. WH2
