What fun. Those are perfect size for sturgeon bait, but I would be a shame to harm them.

Nice action. I have spent the past 10 years learning all I can about small stream brookies here in Idaho since moving here from Nebraska. Many streams are like you said, gin clear. Some are that size, many are very small. My favorite fly is a #20 Griffiths Gnat or a #18 Grey Hackle...all in the film. Para Adams and what I call Para Royal Coachmans work too.
Just a bit of advice....carry pepper spray....Grizzlies merge on these small streams in the Fall to feed on stream side Haw Berry Bushes.

Oh, I know!! A friend of mine was hunting yesterday and had a grizz pull the sneak on him and get within 10 yards, from behind! Real scary!

I have been fishing I.P, for 50 years and the brookie fishing is the finest it is a true riot but it looks like you are fishing the upper buffalow not a creek. great show lots of creeks with lots of size differances in each. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like fun. Was the barb pinched on those fly's? Some of them looked a little difficult getting out of the fishie's mouth?

No, I don't usually pinch the barbs down unless I have to..like for steelhead.

Thanks for sharing. I have been fising small creeks all summer long. Yet I haven't targeted any with brookies this year. That is unusual because usually I catch a lot of them.

Appreciate the straight forward response.
I would politely, and respectfully ask that you consider to always pinch the barbs when fly fishing, and especially when you are catching and releasing.
Thank you for your consideration!

What is the best way to do this? I've had a hard time while steelhead fishing even, and can't find a good tool to do it. I usually try using my pliers but that even still doesn't do the job very great. What would you suggest?
