Word is they are draining Magic, needing to do some work on the Dam I'm told.
Sounds like you can still launch but not for much longer, also hearing fishing is very hot, and seen some pictures of some very nice 20" inch plus Rainbows and a brown about 8#,,,,
I have'nt been out for quite awhile, but will be out there Thursday and give a first hand report when I get back..........

Sounds like I'm going to have to make a trip that way, hate the thought of that lake getting dried up. Hopefully it isn't an issue that causes a winter kill.

My apologies for not getting back to this thread sooner..
I didn't make it out, a buddy of mine stuck a nice Bull and I went and helped him pack it out.
I am going to be out there about sunrise in the morning, yer more n welcome to join me, I will be by myself and have plenty of room in my boat.
I talked to a friend that lives out on the West side, he says no problem launching there on the west side, and fishing has been very good.
Talked to another friend that stopped out to have a look at hotsprings, no chance there, not even for a float tube.
sent you a pm Bronco......

Well fishin' was mighty slow!! Hooked up one little Rainbow about 6" and a hand full of Smallies and Perch about the same size.
Everybody I talked to was having about the same kind of day.
I did hook into a super big fish and played it for about a minute, my trolling motor died and I was messing with it bout the time I got going again my pole started doubling over I thought I had bottom so I was just starting to straight line it when I realized it was a fish, man that thing had some shoulders, it was a very heavy fish, I cut the motor and was getting ready for a long battle, he shook his head a few times and started swimming towards the boat I started reeling as fast as I could he changed his mind turned back made a run and just spit the hook, I WAS BUMMED!! He must of read my mind when I started thinking about the Taxidermist,
Water level wasn't bad, my guess it's down about 40'.........
Fish finder was on the blink so I didn't get the temp.
only place to launch is on the west side.
Two rigs drove out to close to the water and they sunk in the mud, they were buried!! gonna take some real effort to get them out, I'll try to post some pics a little later.
I did see about 20 dead Rainbows in about a 1 mile strech in the narrows, some fairly big ones too, gonna call F&G tomorrow to see if they know whats up with that.
Going to give it another try next week, I have always done very well out there in the fall, just hoping it was an off day today.

Let me know when you head back out Tyler & I'll meet you out there. I fished Magic twice in the last 2 weeks & it was very slow for me also. I too have been hearing about how good it's been but hardly ever saw a net in the air the 2 times I last fished it. Not sure if they're just rumors or if some guys are actually catching fish @ Magic. Better get it while we can cause if they drain it, it will be 5 years before it's worth fishing again. [mad]

Will do Mike, you got any thoughts on all the dead fish? did you see any while you were out there? It appeared to me like they all died about the same time, they were all in about the same condition, the only place I seen em was on the east side of the narrows.
Thanks for posting that up Sagebrush, nice to see that they won't have to completly drain it to fix the problem.
But if I'm reading that right there is still a possibility that it will still go down to37-39%,,,
[QUOTE]" The facility owners are seeking permission to defer repairs"
Seems to me that if they were going to take it down to 40-42% they would just let it go on down that extra 1 or 2 % and just get the problem taken care of.
