Hafta say the $10 question is you intending shore or launch?
Shore - wear mud-boots, or waders. Bring a towel. Launch -hope you have a boat you can carry to water's edge. Thinks you oughta leave the 17ft Bassboat at home - I don't care how big your truck is. As for the fishing - my experiences with fall fishing at the Newt - is the lower it gets, the more the fish turn on. Even from shore - the bitty bass action will be hot along the shoreline. Pitch out to where it drops - you'll be on perch. If you can suspend with a good offe`r (faster is better) you have agood chance for passing crappie. Then there's the musky. They'll be hungry and everywhere. Right offer? Be prepared for a toothy hookup and release. But keep in mind, low warm water - they're in a delicate state. Do what you can to ensure a safe, quick release. I think the low-low water hurts them more than anyone.

Water temps 63-64 degrees today. Slow fishing, but got my trailer in the water on the west side. Edges have dried out up to about 3 feet from water's edge.

hit newton, and just fished from shore. Decided not to bring the boat due to time restrictions and questionable launching abilities. We tried for the muskies for about an hour on the west side of the lake using all the big shiny lures i had, some even tipped with carp meat. Then we switched to small jigs tipped with mill worms and the perch, crappie and small bass went crazy. We caught them almost on every cast.
