Blue Lake Trip Tilapia Score
#1
So Friday night Me and my Friend headed out to Blue lake at 10 PM Got there Right around 12:30 - 1:00 went to check the lake that was out in the middle of nowhere in some marsh in the middle of the utah/nevada desert. set up our tent and went to sleep to wake up before sunrise to hit the tilapia hard.
Blue lake is fed by 2 underground hot water springs wich keep the temp around 60 degrees even through the winter. and is able to support the illegally stocked tilapia.

Woke up headed out first cast out just a weightless worm let if fall to the bottom scored a really nice bluegill
caught a few more nice bluegill some small largemouth bass
by this time the scuba divers started ariving and were about to begin a class so we decided to leave.
right as we were about to leave I landed my first tilapia. even tho i only got 1 it i was happy to be able to knock tilapia of my list
all in all it wasent that bad the fish in that lake are really healthy because the water is brackish wich means its not quite salt water and its not quite fresh water. it really helps there gills.

I grew up In Hawaii and if there was a mud puddle there was probably Talapia in it.... But especially as you described in brackish water where the rivers would meet the ocean. They would thrive in that type of water. We used to catch them all the time as kids. I don't know what their like in Blue Lake but back in Hawaii they could actually grow fairly large and are super aggressive...easy and fun to catch.

Those talapia are great table fair, as well as the best flathead catfish bait you can get in Arizona. Hey stay alive on a hook almost as well as a carp, I dream of catching Talapia around that size... The flatheads they attract and catch.... Oh my.

I was one of the scuba divers. I talked to you first thing early on prior to the rest of the class arriving. Anyway water was very murky. Really didn't see much fish in the lake either. Was hoping to see a lot of bluegills but no such luck saw a few one was real nice size.
