awStarted off with a late departure from Kuna with a Broken truck and boat. Brakes went out on me and truck wouldn't start and trailer lights wouldn't work but eventually got going and couldn't wait to fish in and around Cascade so we started with Tripod Reservoir since it wasn't far off the path.
Fished a small stream off the road near it and got my buddy his first Brookie and myself a few fish also. Got up to Tripod and it was GREEN! Fished it for half an hour and didn't see any action so we moved on to North Fork of the Payette where it dumps in to Smiths Ferry and nailed a few descent Perch and a small Rainbow.
Ate Lunch in Cascade and watched the first half of the Boise State game but had to get back to fishing and after asking around decided to follow a lead and fish a small creek on our way in to Horsethiief. Saw a few small Brooks but they weren't taking so we moved on to Troll the Lake. Slow fishing while trolling but others were catching their limit using worms and powerbait on bottom, but we decided to drift in the wind and throw a few flies instead. Fish were taking Elk Hair Caddis and jumping all over the lake but only managed to catch a few including a very nice Brown.
Started at Cascade on Sunday Morning and while trolling off the Southern end hooked up with a perch and the only trout of the day, but decent sizes. Moved over near all the other boats and trolled and jigged a bit and got some of the largest perch I've ever caught.
In the afternoon we wanted to change it up and were looking to fly fish so we were gonna hit Lick Creek near McCall but stopped short of there when we remembered about Louie Lake and wanted to hit that instead. Very slow fishing but managed a nice Cutty and a few other strikes within an hour, but after fishing it till dark and walking all around the lake, only managed another 2 cutts. Nice fish though.
