Any idea of what this IS ??
#1
Hello everyone !

This is my 1st post but most certainly not my last. A recently renewed "interest" (obsession is probably more accurate ) in fishing has been driving me to small ponds around Nashville, TN.

Yesterday - on a very windy overcast afternoon - I caught a bunch of these in a local pond. A pretty hefty fish that hit a small night crawler on a still rig

I can figure out what this thing is !! Thought it was some kind of crappie but that top fin is different. Seems to be some kind of panfish but I'm baffled

any ideas ?

Cool catch. I've only seen em in the grocery store.
JP - Blue Lake? Really - Bucket biologists?

So is that salt water or fresh? Or are they one of those fish that swings both ways?
I'm thinnin' Talapia do fall into the panfish category, no?

Welcome to the board, and to the obsession. Got bit by that bug a few years back, and my kids say I'm "addicted" to fishings. I claims I'm "obsessed" - sounds better...
