MrWiskers, Riverpark, Bassin - Great Day, 10-21-2012, AlvinC and Will
#1
Got out this morning around 8:30 with Alvin and his son Will. Put in at the Riverpark and headed just down river to a spot that sometimes holds fish this time of year. Not much happening so we fired up the big motor to head downtown then it shuts down and buzzer goes off. Checked a couple of things and guess what, OUT OF OIL.emoDoh emoDoh emoDoh Quick call to the wife and she brought us some. But while we waited we fished our way down to the Boathouse. We caught a few bass and a 9 lb blue cat but not much.
Got the oil and headed downtown. Hit a couple of places with a fish here and there. Hit the ole catfish drift and boated 5-6. Left there and hit the bank mom and I did well on Tuesday morning. It was LOADED. All three of us caught fish one after the other. We made two passes down that bank and actually caught more the 2nd pass. At one point Alvin sets the hook about 3 feet from the bank and all we could see what a large fish flash and take off. Both of us thought it might be a huge LM but turned out to be a 9 lb drum. emoLaugh
The weather today could be beat. We ended the day at 12:30 with 31 spots, 8 largemouth, 1 smallie, 5 blue cats, 5 channel cats, 1 drum and 2 google eyes. 53 fish in the boat in 4 hours is pretty good even though the first hour was pretty much wasted with the oil issue. I know we stuck and lost another 10-15. Alvin took home a limit of spots for the dinner table. Water temp was 66 today and all bass came on 3/16 oz pig n jigs or 1/4 oz spinnerbait. Most of the cats came on drop shot minnows with a few coming on the jig. Love fall fishing.
