Pat and I fished for Crappie today. It was a leisurely, slow, enjoy the beautiful weather day. Pat caught the most and I caught the biggest. emoBigSmile I'm after quality most of the time and not after quantity. emoPoke

I fished mostly with Panfish assassins with a chartreuse tail light and Pat fished with BG shads and Fin-S shads. We used both 1/32 and 1/16 oz jigs.

The current was just perfect for fishing bluffs, but the fish that were on the bluffs were not biting. emoBigSmile So, we fished dropoffs without success and finally decided to fish docks and caught about 45 crappie today topped off with a 13.75 inch Black Crappie. Lots of crappie in the 9 to 10 inch range. The next 2 or 3 years will be a bonanza for Chickamauga.

When we started fishing today, we were in between feeding periods, but when it finally reached feeding time for the fish, we had a lot of fish biting and coming into the boat only to be release to grow and fight another day. I did take 4 fish home for supper tonight. As soon as I finish this report, I'm gonna rest for 30 minutes, then start frying these babies up. emoHungry

Pat and I are going to the Nick on Wednesday, the good Lord willing and see if we can reduce the crappie population a little bit down there. I won't be keeping any fish, but I want to make them think about what they did before releasing them back into the water. emoBigSmile emoGeezer That will be it for me until Saturday when Bent Rod and I will be getting together for another adventure. I don't know exactly where we will be located, but the fish had better be on the lookout. emoTeacher Over and out.
