Greeting from the Sub-Tropics,

Various good news items to pass on this week.
#1 (as always) is the fishing. The effects of Hurricane Paul have officiallyleft the building and our finned pals have not only resumed eating, they havealso grouped up nicely for us.
#2 theweather has finally broken and Fall is here! Mid-80’s in the day, low 70's at night. What more could you ask for.

BH (before hurricane) nice, cooperative schools of tuna offSanta Maria (between San Jose and San Lucas) and La Fortuna/Iman Bank were very hungry andfishermen were happily gaffing specimens from 10-80 lbs. These fish disappeared during the storm but are NOW BACK. Dorado and Wahoo are also circling theschoolies and while we’re getting bit-off by many hoo’s striking mono baits, they are being landed when correctly targeted with wire/cable leaders.

Cow tuna are showing up off and on at both Inner and OuterGordo Banks and with the correct bait and presentation (mainly chunkingskipjack), anglers are buckling up for the grueling battle between man andbeast. The cooler air temperatures arehelping anglers during the fight and we had no one pass-out this week :-)

Hurricane Paul sure took its toll on the annual Los CabosBillfish Tournament and our friends at Marlinmagazine suffered through an extremely slow billfish bite. Only one qualifying marlin made it to theweigh station as the fish still hadn’t re-grouped from the storm by tournament’s end. Highlights were a few large tuna landed by ahandful of teams which helped keep desperate anglers occupied… a bit.

Being wahoo hunters, PFISH is excited about their arrivaland look forward to what we hope is good fishing in the coming months. Tuna, dorado and wahoo are presently the staples oflife here in Los Cabos and the marlin fishing should continue to improve as thedays shorten. We still have a fewopenings left of the Nov, Dec, Jan calendar so let us know if you’d like tostep up to the plate. ‘Till nextweek. –Capt.
