I really hate to ask, but I'm still a little bent about getting beat by those Kokanees last year, how long before safe ice? I hope my wife will go again, but as cold as she got last year, I don't know if I dare ask her to go again. Thanks in advance.

I haven't been up there lately but it should be ready here soon. I am going up next weekend to take a look, Iwill let you know the conditions. I fish it steady during the ice season so if your wife doesn't want to go and you need company let me know. Those kokes are dang good eating!

It's been too warm so far. Got a little snow sat night into sunday morning, but it's melting in the day temps. Soon there will be ice.

I want to spend some time in Mackay ice fishing for Kokes. Its a three and a half hour drive for me. Any suggestions on fishing location, bait/jigs, or color ? Also a less expensive hotel although I am sure not many choices.

Any jigs orange or pink tipped with meal worms are good for the kokes. I use a small Swedish pimple that does good most days. The main boat ramp is where most people fish and they do well on the kokes, best area for access when we get snow. Near the dam can be good at times also, especially if you like to catch trout and kokes.

Thanks for the info on location and what works. Sounds like right now its wishful thinking as per the report today the temp is in the mid 40's with rain.

The Wagon Wheel sounds great with rooms for two @ $55.00. See you all there hopefully soon when it's iced.
