Lost Lake had a full 6 inches of ice yesterday. Snow on the road was very little until the turnoff for Murdock Basin ( about 22 miles from Kamas) but then substantial the rest of the way. 4 WD and a shovel is a requirement if you drive up. The afternoon was beautiful and warm in the sun compared to the smog in the valleys.

I didn't drive up it either of the past 2 weekends that I went up. Last weekend no evidence of any vehicles driving up since the last snow fell. Yesterday it looked like several had driven up it. Not sure how much snow on the road itself but the ground had 15-20 inches of a very powdery snow up there.

Next storm and you'll probable need snowmobiles to hit any of those lakes. I had my son cross country ski some for his first time this past weekend. Afterwards he kept talking how we need snowmobiles[laugh]. He's training for a cross country (running) meet in California this next weekend. I'm a tough coach- he gets to cross country ski at 10,000 ft through unbroken snow as his day off from running[sly].
Fishing was pretty slow on Lost. I only caught 1 rainbow in an hour fishing.

I flew over and circled the Uinta drainages a few days ago all the upper lakes were well froze over Amithist, Red castle, duchene, weber, provo drainages. Still water (rock creek drainage) and lower still had open water.
