+1 Crowds are finally gone and the fish are still here. Saturday and Sunday were both mediocre to fair...... Had a buddy come up to Salmon to steelhead fish for the first time in his life. Saturday he got a few pointers and learned how to cast a baitcaster. By the end of the day Saturday he hooked a few steelies on his own. By the end of the day Sunday he managed to limit himself out. Highlight of the weekend was watching him catch and release a "hatchery fish with an adipose" with a super torn up corner of its mouth on eggs. On Sunday he caught and released the same fish again in the same spot using the same setup.

Get an update before you head out. Fished in the mud today. Dirty water tactics didn't do squat and nobody else I spoke with touched a fish all day. Fishing was so off that we couldn't even get a cutty or bulltrout to eat a nice glob of eggs.

Boy its been cold and icy up here in Salmon....... believe that! Despite the cold and the constant parade of ice floating down the river fishing has been up and down. Fishing way below N. fork I've been getting into fish one day and totally blanked the next. I attribute this to the fact that the few holes that remain "fishable" and I use that term loosly are getting pounded. Looking forward to spring!
