Mantua closed???
#1
As per my last post, RILEYFISH mentioned he read somewhere Mantua was closed due to slush and standing water on the surface. I don't doubt him at all with this weather. Is there somewhere online that I can check periodically so that a trip isn't wasted? Thanks!

Yeah, I know about that. But the DWR last checked on 12/23 even though they updated it today. Thanks!

just remember anytime you go out on the ice double check. reports say one thing. but double checking make sure the report is right. will be better then having an accident. safety is always good..

You are right about that.

I was on Mantua before and after the last DWR report. That's why I always look on here and talk with others that aren't on the forum. Last year, the reports on their website weren't the most accurate. But that is because, in my opinion, they are most likely very cautious (more than most of us on here) when it comes to reporting ice conditions. Their report from the 23 said unstable ice, but I was on it before and after the 23rd,and in my mind - as well as many others who were out there both times - thought the ice was fine. I have no issues with that at all. Better to err on the side of caution.
