went up and fished today and it was super slow 3 other groups and talked to them they said no bites or fish. Ice is good 6 to 8 inches. Fished from 10 till 4 only having 3 bites and catching 2 fish, but they were good ones. I didnt venture over to the south side as i was alone and out in the middle the ice was 3 inches in a few places. caught them on purple jig heads and pink and white tipped with worm one dead stick and one jigging

Nice couple of fish! A bite every other hour is not even close enough to tempt me in these frigid temps though. Thanks for the report... BTW, any word on any spiney rays being caught down that way or is it pretty much all trout?

Bummer! Maybe it will pick up as the ice gets thicker and you can move around more. Such beautiful fish in there!

I hope your right but did notice numbers were way down the last few times we were out fishing with the boat, However we did catch a record number of larger fish this year. they are very beautiful some of the pic don't show the colors as in real life

Good pictures, thanks for the input. My question is as I noticed that you had a Jaw Jacker and a Jigger Totter I like the Totter and I am considering getting a Jaw Jacker any advice? I am sure its probably just like having a good assortments of tackle.

I like both and the jaw jacker works pretty good as long as your very selective on what jigs you use on it Nothing that hangs off the hook like paddle bugs tube jigs. I have found it works really good on aggressive fish. If they play with it bump it it will go off and miss the fish, 8 times out of 10 it will spook them away. Yes you can set the tension so it eliminates the above problem But then you miss the liter biting fish. They are also a little more of a pain on super cold days when cleaning out your hole as we have had the last few weeks as you have to be careful not to get water on the trigger and reach down and hold the trip so they don't go off, not really that big of deal but when your doing that every 5 min for 8 hours its a little bit of a pain.

Now the jigger totter that's gods gift to fisherman lol It was brought to my attention by hookandhunter that they were a great rod holder so i decided to build some and i simply love them no more spring bobbers and i really believe they are more sensitive than the bobber and you can see them getting a bite from a pretty good distance. they will jig when you clean out your hole and curt69 told about using a paper plate for days with a breeze as it will jig the pole the fish above hit using this method . they are secure and I have been a little slow getting to a pole and by the time i got there fish was hooked and pulling drag.

This being said i still like both but if i had to just choose one it would be the jigger totter it has a lot of advantages over the jacker

Man that is pretty cool although I wonder if it is hard to distinguish a bite when you use the plate. As for the Jacker I am going to start with one and check it out. Hope to see you out on the ice.

Exactly I have some small playing cards that work well in brisker winds , sometimes no card is required lol

Its not bad you just have to watch for no upward travel and a lot of times they will hit it hard enough to point the rod tip into the hole[cool]
