Rockport
#1
[fishon]This is the third time I have ice fished Rockport since this ice season. Parked and fished off the first camping ground with a group. Fished off the rocky point in 19’ of water “only maybe 10’ from the shore”. Did very well every time for rainbows and browns. Fish would come through on the fish finder at a very of depths. We would fish at those depts. and we would all get fish at the same time. Caught fish on mostly white jigs, but anything we tried seemed to work. Tipped jigs with wax worm, meal worms, or butter worms, even shrimp worked. All the biggest fish came off blue jigs though. I could not find any solid blue jigs so we colored white feather jigs blue, with scented markers. My smallest rainbow was 12” the biggest 18 7/8”. My biggest brown was 23”. I have pictures of fish we kept to eat, but no pictures on fish we released. I have not tried Rockport for perch yet, and so far have not caught any. This is my first post so I will try to get more pictures and better details in the future posts. I go ice fishing every weekend on lakes, and urban fishing during the week, so I plan on posting more.

Welcome to the site and thanks for posting your report and pics. If your after perch at RP, you will need to fish in a little deeper water.
