is bear lake still safe

I was just wondering if any one knows if it is still safe to go fish bear.lake I'm headed up Sunday and was wondering where to go and wondering if the boat mariana would would be a good place to go

You'll never hear the word "safe" from me, but I can tell you there is about 3-8" of ice all around the lake. No snow on the ice after our 60-70mph winds yesterday, but I see snowmobiles and 4 wheelers out there right now.

I went on the rock pile and the ice going out there was sketchy, its like 4" with 2" of water and then another layer of 1" ice, but the ice in about where you wanted to fish was fine. Fishing was way slow, fished all day and no bites.

Just be aware of the 3' illegal ice holes close to shore at cisco beach ha ha ha.

How are 3' ice holes illegal? While dip netting hole size is unrestricted is what I read?? Any other time the restriction is 18 or less

Well what I though it was that it's just 18". Well there should be some rules for hole size and space between one and another while dip netting because it was ridiculous how big and close one too another were. It just causes the ice too walk around weaker and my conclusion is TDT fell through the ice []. As well I had too listen too that princes. It was pretty interesting watching people fall. I'm just happy I'm not heavy enough to break that ice up there. [cool]

I even talked too a guy up there that fell 5 times. He said it was so miserable I got ice in my pockets and showed all the ice he had.

Yeah they were still spawning, I would think you could go now and get some. It will be a couple of weeks before the fishing gets good again I imagine. Hopefully this ice breaks up and blows off![fishin]

Was up yesterday seen a couple guys at the rockpile. A lot of water open in the State Marina. Because of all the geothermals at Bear Lake I would never say Safe Ice.
At best yesterday I would say marginal and it was warm out and suppose to be warm today. I am going up in the morning! Word has it the bite for cutts and macks has slowed way up! Gorged on Cisco. Couple weeks like years past it will get hot again.
