Thinking about heading up to payette lake for some fishing. Maybe trying to target some walleye. I haven't seen any reports on payette and I have never fished there before. Does anyone have any idea on where to go there? What is the best fish to target there right now? It's a ways away to go up for me to just get my line wet without a clue.

Payette Lake doesn't have walleye. A smattering of rainbows/cutthroat, macks, and kokanee. Don't even bother w/o a boat. Lake Cascade, south of P.L., has more reliable fishing, esp. if you don't know Payette. Mike

Sorry mackinaw is what I meant. I was wanting to go up on while it was frozen and do some ice fishing.

It's been really slow to spotty this year with mostly smaller fish. II only know of 1 good fish being hooked. If you go, good luck.
