#1
I want to take my uncle to the berry but dont know much bout that lake when frozen. Any help would be great. The only yhing I need to worry anout is ease of access as he has cancer so super long walk or steep teran winds him easy. Thanks guys.

The Ladders has very easy access from the parking lot on to the ice, no climbing up or down a hill and you are on the ice just west of the parking lot.

Strawberry Marina is about the next easiest with a trip up and down the boat ramp to the ice.

I got skunked at the ladders, so i don't think that is a good place. I say strawberry bay or chicken creek east. For strawberry bay use a green or white jig tipped with meal worm and jig, when you stop jigging the fishing usually hit right then. For chicken creek east, do the same thing, but fishing is a little slower

Myself & 4 others went to Soldier Creek last Saturday (Feb. 2nd) & fished from about 10 am until just before the sun was about to set. We caught 89 fish. So, i'd say we were quite successful?? We fished in about 20 feet of water, but most fish were caught between 5-10 feet. In our ice tents you could see the fish hit......which made the fishing MUCH more exciting. We used white tube jigs, but mostly pink rat finee's tipped with a meal worm or night crawler (the fish didn't seem to like one worm more than the other). The largest fish was a 17" rainbow. No cutts were caught. Access was fairly easy if you don't mind a little walk.

GOOD LUCK & happy fishing....... [Smile]

Soldier creek would be the best for most fish for sure. Fairly easy to access. The marina is or can be good for some nice cutts. Find 30' of water fish the bottom and the slot buster will come. Marina has decent access, drop him off as far down as you can drive on the boat ramp. Head to the right. Thats good info right there how you use it is up to you. I fish the berry every weekend from ice on till ice off. My lures and my rigs are my secret so don't ask lol. You'll do just fine with the standard white jig with a meal or wax worm. Hope you nail em!

Marina for sure. Soldier creek not sure. Been a week or two since I made it that way. I would bet you need four wheel drive to get past the first bay.
