Holmes res
#1
Had KSL recorded from this weekend and they gave Holmes a fishing report WOW little ol layton on the board. well for the last month and half i have been hitting it about twice a week and the fishing is getting better and better.
Monday there were about 30-50 people out on the ice.

Today I was the only one on there from 1115-1500 had A BLAST. I worked the area from 20fow to 34 fow and caught fish at all spots. Plastics in almost every color i tried caught fish tipped with a waxie. Numerous gills, crappie and trout and even got my first largemouth of 2013. I found the gills to be anywhere from right under the ice to rt on the bottom. crappie were all caught about a 1foot off the bottom. trout everwhere in between. no slush on the lake but the edges were all water and used a board to get out.
good luck and tight lines.

Ya I know any day can beat a day at work. I just wish the pictures were into jpeg form so I dont have to click so many buttons because it cam up as win rar file formats and it takes some more time to look at the picture but he caught some decent crappie.

I'm excited for ice off season for some big bows, brookies, tiger, and ect.

i live right under holmes, everytime we ice fish there all we get is one small trout. When we fish in the summer, we get a lot of bites but all of the fish are too small to hook.

you are lucky to catch a bass like that, my first large mouth ever(2 years ago, i was 10) was 2 1/2 inches long, then that same year i went and caught some giant largemouth

Very nice. I overlook that place a lot. Used to cat h very nice bass, decent bluegill and large, but sparse crappie there.

Any size to the bluegills? Might hit that pond, since I'm having trouble getting anywhere else this year.

Any advice on generally what to look for, like points, depth, etc..

Can you keep the fifty crappie there that you can in other places, it isn't considered a community fisheries so i would susspect. What did you catch the crappie on

After reading the new regs only thing i see is for the bass. I dont keep bass so all other limits are in the regs. good luck and tight lines or in the case of crappie look for the slack..

was it was from dnr website or the fishing guidbook. That is only special rules, i looked at it yesterday, it isn't a community fisheries so you can keep more than two fish, so you can keep 6 largemouths one over 12 inches, 10 walleye, one over 24 inches, unlimited carp, 50 crappie, 50 bluegill

I took my sister and her boy friend out there mid day today for a couple of hours... Fun little fish. In about 3 hours we had about 10 fish, two tiny blue gills and the rest dinky trout. I used to fish it a few years ago a lot and found a few good spots for trout and once caught a walleye on the hard water, (mostly catch those and bass during late summer) but where are people catching the crappie? And what depths do they generally hang around. Talked to three other groups out there who didn't get a thing today though and we pulled out 10, so I feel a lots gotta be location.
