I haven't seen them quite yet, but they should be moving up fairly soon.

How shallow do the bass usually go? I found a nice spot that was an old Canoe/Kayak launching area, just past the hatchery (not right by Boulder Beach). The area was rather shallow for about 100 yards out, but lots of structure. Curious how far in the LMB might come, or if they just start spawning as soon as they hit the depth they want?

They will move up as far as they need to find the right conditions. They can be as shallow as 2'. It's all about water temperature, really - which can be a function of depth. HERE is a link to some good info.

I'd say around late March to mid April is when the weather will be steady and they'll be bedding

Structure or cover? In Mead the bigger fish spawn deeper as a rule. They are also gonna occupy the best spots. Start looking where you can't see the bottom structure clearly. Sun, little wave action, low silt, medium amounts of aquatic vegetation but what is around is green...all make up good spots. Right now I wouldn't be spending a lot of time anywhere there is a red bank or mud...but I could be proved wrong if the spot on spot suits a big female.
That spot you refer to used to be a good spot later in the spawn cycle about 10 years back; they were nesting at the base of old brush...don't know about. now. You might contour where the depth changes; there is going to be a contact point there somewhere.
Inside Boulder Harbor has many potential spots on south bank and east banks.
Over by the closed down fish hatchery are some good spawning spots closer to shoreline features.
