Four days on the southfork of the Clearwater.

Ducttaped4runner and his girlfriend carlee came up to see me for the weekend and neither had ever caught a steelhead.Fishing was fantastic. Best I've had since I moved to Lewiston. fished three days with fly rods and the last day with nothing but drift fishing on my bait casters. Hooked multiple fish every day I even deverginised the Spey rod. Got some good pictures too. Carlee ended up landing two a big male and a nice hen. ducttaped4runner Sadly never landed one but hooked and fought multiple fish.

big beadhead prince nymphs seemed to be the meal ticket on the flys really the water was murky so i pretty much fished big and black the whole time.

Congratulations on catching one with a spey rod - that is an accomplishment. Days like that make up for all the time spent in the rain and snow without a hit but they wouldn't happen if you didn't put in the time and effort.

Looks great to me. I am headed up on the 20th. Hope the water holds steady! If I can find one fish like that I will be happy as a kid in a candy store. Yee Ha. Good Job.

We will be fishing Sat and have to return on Sunday. Sounds Cool we stay in Grangeville. How far from Grangeville do you fish? I don't blame you if you don't want to put it on the web I will have a girl with me that has never caught a steelhead. We went out and bought her first waders boots and stuff she has been wearing them all week. LOL

Thanks Chrome We will mostly be fly rodding. Don't know much about spey rods. You might enlighten me?? What is with a spey rod? I seen one once lol. Went out today to let her practice flipping a fly rod. Had to go back and look at your pics again. Wow what great fish. I won't sleep again tonight. Not sure if I will take the bobber stuff might just for a backup.
