I have not posted a report in a long while; but I wanted to share this experience.

Dad and I have had some pretty good outings this season. The fishing has been good. No complaints on the quality of the fish we've caught either, both largemouth and smallmouth bass. But!, we both have really been wanting to break that elusive 6 pound barrier again. It had been a while and we both felt like we were due for a really nice Brownfish.

Well, on this day, Pete sr. reminded me who the original brownfish man is. He had a great day by anyone's standards.

Not only did he put an absolutely beautiful 6 pound smallmouth bass in my boat, he also put four more smallies in the boat for a total of 5! One of which was a very solid 4lbs 14ounces! And he wasn't done yet; he added a kicker spotted bass to the tally that tipped the scales at over 3lbs.

The weather conditions were pretty raw, NW wind was 10-15 mph, the air temp was in the mid 40's, cloudy skies, exactly the kind of day I like, a Brownfish day.

We fished from 1:30 until darkish.

The water temp was 44 degrees, flow was 47,000 cfs, water clarity was 2 to 3 feet or so. Depths varied from 14 to 17 feet in the areas we fished

Slow movers seemed to be the baits of choice. Switched between jigs and tubes...

Me?, I didn't catch a bass all day long and it was as good of a day on the water as I can remember, go figure...
