Government Wash 3/17
#1
Decided to go out to the wash by myself Sunday and fish from the shore. I was right off the point where most of the boats launch and only caught one small striper. I had one pole fishing sardines and was casting lures. The one I caught went after an all-white swim bait. I was surprised I actually caught anything on it.

There were fishing jumping all over the wash. I heard a guy in a canoe and a guy in a kayak yelling at each other how they had never been in a boil and not caught fish. So I guess about 150+ yards off of shore, there was bait fish all over the place.

I didn't really see anyone else pulling in fish. But I decided to head over to the Las Vegas Bay launch and see the Nevada Striper Club weigh ins. Holy crap! There were some huge fish taken off the lake. Saw a number of 5+ and even a few 9+ lbs. Anyways, between catching my lone fish and seeing the fish at the weigh in has restored my faith there are actually fish in the lake.

Also - a heads up and thank you to Toby from NSC for taking the time to walk me through the common striper rigs. He just about showed me his whole tackle box and learned a lot. Just need to get a boat to find the fish!

You are welcome, thats what we do in our club.
If anyone wants to get information about the lake and Stripers do like Gvec, ask questions.

He also talked to other menbers and thay gave him answers. Now you nkow what to do with a bad swimbait.

The big fish for the tournament was a 13 pounder
