Gov't Wash 3/19
#1
Paddled and trolled around Government and Las Vegas washes for 4-5 hours today. A couple of hours into it, I saw another kayak in a cove. I paddled over to say hi. He wasn't having much better luck than me. I turn the yak around and a minute later get a strike. Landed my personal best, 24", 4 lb.

If you peddle a blue Hobie Cat, sorry I got your fish. Smile

Hello bsliv, glad to have you back at BFT. Thanks for posting the report. What were you dragging around out there? Did you happen to take a pic of that fish?

I tried posting a pic but can't seem to figure it out. So here's a link (I think).

It may not be much for most of you guys but for me its a whopper. It looks a bit skinny to me and its stomach was pretty empty. But it filled my stomach for several meals. I got it on a Storm 4" WildEye Swim Shad.

I got so excited I ordered a new bps extreme rod/reel combo. It will be my first baitcaster. I also order some bigger lures to try to entice some bigger fish.

I consider anything over 20" to be a decent striper. Most striper you catch will be in the 1-2lb range so 3lbs+ is nothing to shake a stick at, haha. I wasn't able to see the pic through your link.
Try this

[inline Insert_Pic.png]

Look for a button that looks like it has a mountain in it under the Italics button. (see pic above)
When you click on the Insert Image button, a box pops up that allows you to insert image from URL, or File. If you click on File, then Browse, It will pull up a File Upload box that allows you to pull pictures directly from your computer. Click on the picture you want, and it pops up in the text area of your post. You can add as many pictures you want this way, and you don't have to mess with the Attachments at the bottom.

I normally use Chrome as my browser. It has a different look than IE. I used IE to upload the pic.

I began using firefox because it interfaced best with BFT, haha. I have found that I like it for other reasons as well.

Next time you are out try turning right as you leave the launch area. stay on the right side all the way to Gypsum wash. Thats were the NSC fished last weekend.

Live bait and anchovies in 25ft to 30ft. With 10 fish over 6 pounds were caught, the biggest was 13 pounds.

[cool]that there is a decent above average Mead Striper. the one in my avatar was taken out at crawdad cove 24" and close to 5lbs, it swallowed my 6" slider.

[Wink]I also consider any striper over 20" a big fish. so congrats. now your gonna want a bigger one, I've been trying to top my PB since March 2011. My goal is a double digit striper from shore.

[sly]hey Its possible.... I caught 2 double digit King Salmon from a small pier in Seattle. so a 10lb+ striper is just waiting out there. [fishon]

Go down to Gypsum area with a slip bobber set at 20'.
The bite is at first light and then again about 1-1/2 to 2 hours before sun set.

what is funny about that map you put up here. Where you have the red arrow pointing is where I caught my 10lber a few weeks ago.

I drove down Gypsum Pt Rd last year about this time and they had it blocked off. A motor bike could make it and maybe a good 4wd. I took a video flying around the area. Here's a still of the end of the road.
