EricM, Chick, 42 lb blue cat on 6# test (3 TARP blues total), 03-28-13
#1
What a wonderful day! I rolled out of bed and hit the road at 9:45 this morning (zero-dark-thirty for me). Lots of folks parked at the ramp, but they were all bass and crappie folks I guess. Got to my favorite spot and was alone today. Ran my drift lines for about 45 minutes without a bite. Guess the cats were napping late too.

About 11:30 am the place came alive with fish. Started out with an 11 pound and on the next drift hung a GOOD fish on the 6 pound test! After a bit of a struggle emoEek emoEek I netted a beautiful 42 pound blue cat that looked to me more like a 60 when he came up. My best fish on 6 pound so far! I followed that with a puny 8 pound fish (even Spurhunter could have handled that one) and then a 22 pound. Looked like I was in the groove. The last really good fish was a 30 lb whose tail was all torn up, must have been wrapped in someone's line or nets recently. Still a great catch. After this one all the rest ran about 6 pounds, I guess I ran into a whole flock of 'em and so I decided to quit after 7 or 8 of them.

The wind was less than I expected and the sun was warming. Beautiful day to fish. I'd consider going again tomorrow, but it's Good Friday and the lake will be covered up with folks off of work. Of course, I COULD get up once at the REAL zero-dark-thirty. It could happen..................
