Catfish1 has been working up at 2 boat fishing trip, including Nick and I in boat one and Jim and David in boat two. We started before 9:30am, put in at Woltever Creek and we set off in two different directions. They fished docks where I took Nick in search of a monster. We didn't find a monster but we did catch about a dozen nice white Crappie pretty quickly. Talked to David by phone, he said they were catching lots of Crappie with the occasional keeper on the docks. We caught our fish on deeper brush piles and stumps using BG Outlaw Special Jigs Rigged Weedless. As our action cooled we joined David and Jim in the same area. We immediately started pounding Crappie with keepers being about a 10 to 1 ratio. We were fishing in 15 FOW, swimming 1/32oz jigs on a 3 to 6 count. I decided I would go search for larger fish, went up river where I ran into cranking problems with my battery. My jumper box went out, resorted to jumper cables from my trolling motor battery. This got us cranked where we went back closer to home joining David and Jim, closer to help if we needed help. After we rejoined them, we started catching large numbers of Crappie with the occasional keeper.
We easily caught over 200 Crappie today, with 33 keepers. Both boats kept the limit of Crappie to take home and clean. We had a lot of fun today, wish we hadn't had the battery trouble so we could run the lake but it was still a great day on the water with great friends and watching a young gun who is really excited about Crappie fishing.
