Splitting hairs flyfishing lover...What does it matter to you if its 2, 3 or 10 lbs? I will.never get why some people always chime in with totally worthless comments like questioning the weight of a fish. Pretty easy to see why some people shy away from posting pictures and corresponding weights. Who cares... It's a great fish no matter what it weighs.

yea that's always fun... I caught a 10lb blue catfish once while bream fishing with a cane pole .... we were high on pot and bream fishing back in the 70's when I was a teen and hooked that blue cat using crickets..
was a drama. You should have been there... we had such a great time that day..
good bass.

you should use a green or chartreuse spinner bait at that spot and might catch some more bass...really.

some of the bass I catch at Valentines pond are good gerth and 15" are 3lb easy... the 18" ones are over 5lbs...
it depends on their gerth and health.. that bass looks at least 2lbs and is a good catch.

Sorry about that since i am only a kid I don't have a scale and went by what it felt like but after looking at some size charts I think it was around 2 pounds. It could be a larger as there is tons and tons of bluegill minnows and bread for it to eat. And you're right it would have been a lot more fun on a fly.

I've been catching decent amounts of bluegill for the last couple weeks. But they are still cold so I use a very slow retrieve and lots of jigging to entice a strike.

That's understandable but that's one nice bass. Last 15"+ I caught was ice fishing on Utah lake. Just keep up showing those bass. Fly fishing is the way to go [cool]. I haven't touch my spinning rod since my dc trip.

Very nice Bass! Don't worry about people questioning the weight, IMO it does not take away from the fact that is a nice bass. Also fish for them however you like, some might enjoy a fly rod more, but to each their own. Keep at it, look forward to seeing more posts in the future.

You guys and your secret, close to home bluegill spots drive me nuts! That's dream fishing to me. Bass are great and all, but big gills on light tackle, etc...just a blast.
I bought a 3wt flyrod just to use with a spinning reel for panfish.
Envenom, that looks like a thrill.
