Island Park Res.
#1
Went up to check things out . The lake is open in front of Lake Side Lodge . It was open as far as I could see . Stopped at the boat dock near the dam , and it is still froze solid . Drove over to Henry's and it is stiill completely covered . I didn't fish , I was checking out the camp spot to see how soon we might get in . It will be a while there was more than 3' of snow in it . Just north of Shogun Store . Curt G

Nice report.

It looks like very little is thawed except for the inlets on some of the lakes. Hebgen looks like it is in the lead, but Island Park is not far behind. [:p]

I was curious, so I searched back for Island Park last year. This is how the ice and snow was on Apr 10th 2012

Looks like it is colder up there this year. Lots more snow on the ground.

There was definitly less ice this year than last year. Midway through the season I had to put the extension on my auger while fishing the reservoir last year. This year we never exceeded much more than 24 inches. I think the Lakeside area opens early because the Henrys Fork and Hotel Creek both enter into that general area.

By colder up there, I was meaning that spring was a little slower this year on melting the snow on the ground and thawing things etc. The lakes in the Centinial Basin of MT were about thawed out in 2012.

Yes, the inlet arms always thaw first. That is why the Madison Arm of Hebgen is looking just about ice free.
