Anyone have any tips for this weekend? The weather is too good to pass up so I want to get the kids out for at least a day trip, if not an overnighter. I would like to drive up to Wood Head, but hate to go that far if the crappie have not turned on yet (or too crowded if there's a tournament this weekend..).
If it's not ripe yet, I'm thinking about the Snake below Weiser or Swan Falls for a day trip for cats.

We did Brownlee, but it was sort of a last minute run and we couldn't get there till about 2:00 PM. The bass tournament people said they were doing pretty good, but it was just getting good when they had to come in (early afternoon). The ones I talked to were reporting bass on the bottom hitting crappie jigs 35' or so down.
Crappie all reported deep and not biting.
On the water, my kids were more interested in playing and running around the lake than fishing, so we didn't do much, but the people I saw catching bass around us were doing it more conventionally (i.e. plastics near the banks, not deep as reported...)
The wind HOWLED all night so we didn't bother fishing much this morning. Wish it wasn't three weeks till we can get back up there....

We sure weren't and it seems people thought it was about time, but I didn't hear any reports of success.
I talked to a guy that was all over fishing the spillway for them, but didn't connect to see how he did. That wind really messed up Sunday morning and I would expect anyone trying to fish Saturday night too.
