First trip out on the Powered Tube / Deer Creek report 4-27
#1
A few weeks ago I finished a powered tube based on some of Tube Dude's inventiveness. I haven't had the occasion to use the tube until this morning on a quick trip to Deer Creek.

I launched at Walsburg a little before 7am. The slimers were nipping the top of the water all around me -- and the fish finder was marking fish constantly. It was only a few minutes before I was reeling in the first of seven trout.

I wanted to test the motor and battery so I decided to troll flies and the action was quick for the hour and a quarter I was out.

My inlaws are visiting and my MIL mentioned earlier in the week she loves some fresh trout. I needed to be off the water by no later than 8:30 so I was keeping more than usual.

After an hour I had a limit and had thrown back three others.

The Tube worked well. I need to add more nose floatation under the battery and some pole holders (I missed at least four others I should have hooked because my poles were not as accessible as they should have been.... and once I pulled the power wires on the fish finder).

Anyway, another awesome morning up at Deer Creek. Three of the four fish fillets look more like salmon than trout.... Sunday dinner will be a treat for the company!

As I recall 46 degrees and it didn't warm much over the hour I was there.

Thanks! I got a new fly rod today and can't wait to use it on the bass up there.

I'm hoping to get the tube all wrung out by the time the Bass really start becoming active as well. The trout fishing in Walsburg has been ridiculously fast the past month and really fun for the family trips.

For me it's time to move on though Smile

You might need your 5 wt as I found the need for a sinking line on the DC Bass.

[cool][#0000FF]Glad the maiden voyage was a good one. Almost always find a few things that you want to modify...even after a hundred trips. It never ends. I know.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
