Two Sites on Michigans Muskegon River Re-open as Water Falls
#1
The Department of Natural Resources today announced that - due to lower water levels - the Pine Street and Thornapple boating access sites along the Muskegon River have been reopened today, April 22. During a briefing meeting this morning, DNR Parks and Recreation Division staff consulted with local conservation officers, emergency services personnel and local county officials regarding the flooding situation and learned that water levels in some areas have receded but are holding at higher-than-normal levels in lower areas.

The Pine Street and Thornapple sites had been temporarily closed in response to the high waters and unsafe launch conditions. Due to the flood waters remaining at a higher level in the lower-lying areas, other boating access sites - New Bridge and Anderson Flats - will remain closed until Wednesday morning, April 24.

To check on the status of boat launches, visit the Michigan Recreation Boating Information System (MRBIS) website at www.mcgi.state.mi.us/mrbis/ and look up your favorite sites before making travel plans.
