So i have been hearing through various sources that magic was realllly low but then i go to the magic resort website and they have a pic from 2 weeks ago and it looked like there was a ton of water and the report said its as good as its been in recent years. So if it is hot has anyone fished it yet and are the PERCH biting ive been biting at the bit to hammer some perch or crappie.

There are fishing resorts that exaggerate slightly, some that take many liberties with the truth, and then there is West Magic. I call it pure fiction most of the time. I have been following it for some time now, and it seems that the reservoir is always fishing well. When it has completely shut down, it is fishing well "for those in the know"!! I have heard mainly bad reports of late. Oh, by the way, there is another category... for newspapers that don't bother getting out in the field and doing some research, like the Idaho Statesman. Then you begin all your reports with "***** should be fishing well". Mike

Actually, Roger gets "out in the field" more than anyone that has a job, but he cant be in all places at all times. Add to the fact that lots of fisherman get pissed when he hot spots their own favorite fishing hole, he is kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. He keeps things general, and has a pretty good network of great fisherman that give him info. So the statesman does a great job of keeping an outdoors section viable. Plus... anyone who fishes thats any good at it knows that when fishing is hot.. if you wait around to read about it in the paper its over. Riggens is a prime example. " The better fisherman are catching fish " So in excellent fashion the gal at the tackle shop up there 1> calls you out as a man 2> dares you to come on up anyway 3> sells you shrimp and whatever and makes a few bucks. Its a solid business plan.

Magic is very slow right now, the river was super hot all last month at hot springs but it has slowed to nothing now.
The lake should roll in the next couple of weeks, but until then I wouldnt expect much.
No doubt you can't ever put any stock into W. Magic reports...........

Yep I'll be in the tourny,, I need all that easy money for Alaska...[cool] [angelic]
See you at the sign ups eh?? Man I hope the east side is going to be able to get some docks out, don't think there's going to be any chance of launching at hot springs for the derby.
Been hearing the same about Anderson, I have run over that way several times in the past when folks were saying it's on fire,
But just have never had a good day there..

Congrats on 1st place Army,, sounds like it was purty close for the top 3
I almost headed over there yesterday, good thing for you I didn't though,, seems like every time I go to AR that place turns off like a switch.
Just heard a great report from friends that fished Magic yesterday, sounds like they were catching plenty of fish, no whoppers
but some were around 2-3#.
Maybe she rolled, hope so I'm going to get out there a couple times this week to find out.

I don't think the Hot Springs landing boat ramp will even get wet this year. I was there 2 weeks ago & saw nothing but a lot of dirt showing and 2 creeks to look at.[frown]
When & where is the sign up taking place?[fishin]

Sounds like your fishing for a 3 man limit, so anything less then 3 guys in the boat your screwed.
$180 per boat better have some pretty good payouts [laugh]
Just bought Cocoa a Garmin Alpha 100 so I think I'll sit this one out and head to AR next weekend. [fishin]
