Planning to go to the Berry tomorrow with pontoon and fly rod. Anyone been up there recently? Any info would be helpful as to where there is enough open water to put a toon in.
Thanks...

All of soldier side is totally open water. The berry side had ice and had shifted around a lot. The edges were open when we drove by to go fishing soldier side. When we drove back that night the ice was against the bank. May not be safe. We got 40 fish using rapalas trolling.

Myself, Mojo and kandersonSLC were throwing flies on the SC side this morning. As mention, all open and they even got the docks out today while we were there.
A lot of ice still on Strawberry side, but a lot of open water for a pontoon.

I launched at Mud Creek and fished the north end ice free

Did you catch on that north end? Could you get a boat towards the river inlet yet?

I was there last night and this morning. There is minimal ice between Strawberry Bay and Haws point. Indian Creek and renegade is wide open as well. Other ice was seen out further by the narrows. A few boats on the water today and a million pontooners. Didn't see anyone having luck from a toon and minimal catching from shore.

Caught 8 fish in 2 hours on the north end towards the inlet. It was pretty slow
